my latest trip to poland...

last week i was in poland. my grandfather got into hospital so my father and i went to poland to visit him in the hope that he'll recover quickly.

he did not. he died on friday, january the 30th.

before and after i felt free to make some photographs of my family; cousins, aunts, uncles and so on...

my cousin was trying to repair my fathers mobile. well, he tried.

only one day after our arrival it started to snow as hell,...

leaving your car, with austrian plates, in poland is not such a good idea.

another uncle, he is funny as hell and is the person with the most "znajomosci" (connections) that i know.

and he feels very attracted to my camera.

this was the very first photograph after the message that my grandfather died. family, friends and neighbors came to lament with us.

after few hours my aunt wrote a text that was going to be hung out all around the village and the city near the village.

we sat around till late at night.

preparations for the rosary,... a tradition in poland when someone in the family dies, to pray the rosary

she said whom to call, my father called and said that his father has died.

the funeral:

the old dissection house of the hospital. one really fucked up place.

a collection of some really handsome polish men. the one on the left told me he once got so pissed that he felt asleep in that old dissection house. i really didn't want to know why he got there.

in poland it is tradition to bring the coffin before the funeral to the home of the decesed.

many people came to say goodbye.

even the fancy ones.

good fiends and family members carried the coffin to the church. that's tradition too.

obviously a lot of people came.

at the cemetery.

than, after the funeral, the funeral feast.

we invited many friends of the family and members of the family.

"studniòwka"... some kind of "der letzte schultag".

gnaah, these children.

another uncle, a very funny one. a very unusual dresscode for him.

nagh,... now a serious one.

family was invited then home. it was very nice.

aftermath.

after the hard work, washing the dishes we needed some energy!

my mother, she didn't want to eat.

the day after. random photos.

i never really took part in such a thing. seeing a person die and then everything afterwards.

of course, i was on funerals before, but i never experienced the dying of a person that was so close to me.

my grandfather had a good death. if there is something like a good death but for him it was painless and he died not alone.

So, since I haven't been posting for several months I saw this nice idea of posting every day photograph. I think this is a good thing for me to do something like this too to stay at least a little bit productive. but i'll give it every week a shot.

my parents bought a house, which means i am going to move in some months.

but before that we have to fix a lot in that house.

christmas in ASBÖ

so, how did you spend your christmas. i had to work. 12h shifts on the 24th, 25th, 26th and the 27th. sucks bigtime. anyways, i had a lot of time to make photos.

why? because nobody calls the ambulance at the 24th of december.

which means that about 15 zivildiener were doing nothing but waiting to save some lives on the christmas day.

meet my hard-toed-never-slipping shoe. it's ugly as hell.

ever woke up in an ambulance after a hard-drinking night? that is what you see first. a accuVac. that thing sucks up your puke. real fun to clean it.

meet volker, the driver. my driver. he is very competent, one of the most competent guys in the ASB i know so far.

one thing i've learned in all the time of boredom... google knows almost everthing. very spooky.

the locker-room. nice place to make telephone calls because it is most of the time empty.

mattäus (i hope i spell his name correct) is my auszubildender/lehrbub. he is nice. make his work good. i think he is going to be one of the more competent guy in the ASB ;wackel

my mother decorates the table, always different, she says it is an art to decorate the table. he studies books for days before christmas to plan a net decoration.

last Tuesday I was on a CD-release party. The band is called “stoked”. All members of the band are good friends of mine. It was a fun night, but, I had to leave early because of the zivildienst.

right.
a lot happend since the 13th of august. but i really don't feel like posting everything since august. so let me start with the last roll i shot: yesterday.
it is the first film with my bessa since she is back from service, she had an accident. wanna see her last picture, before service? there it is:
and there is one before the last one. i like it (although th quality sucks). ah. btw. i have now a neat nikon coolscan 8000. it is far beyond neat ;wackel

now the latest roll:
the dude had a cold and he blew his nose very loud in the tram. than he treid to make the tissue to disappear...

After weeks of nothing new i decided once again to post something. all photos are from one roll of trix @ 1600 in Xtol. in the past few weeks nothing special happend. I helped berni twice with the reflector. Better than doing nothing, right?

the schwarzenbergplatz. i like the lights there, especially the ones on the ground. i should try some serious business photos over there.

Julian got a new/old camera. mamiya dsx 1000. fancy hugh? after some light meter tests an a few new batteries she was ready to use. But sill there was a lot of dust in the camera. So julian went first to orator. the guy over there said he should go the leica shop. the leica shop guy said the cleaning would cost more than the camera. So julian is making instead of photos art now. ;wackel

“zwei möpse auf meiner linse”… I always wanted to say that.

I really, really like this one.

That’s all shot in a huge hall, it was his turn to remove all the pallets that are around. I helped him. Was great fun, especially driving with that …van?

Awww, look at her. isn’t she a beauty. But i can already hear her saying: “geeeh biiitte, lösch das. Bei uns schauts aus…”

holding a reflector under the bright sun of lower Austria is a hard job. but I did a good job. i know that.

my very first post

so this is my very fitst post. what should i start with. maybe with my last school-day. after eight long years in that school it's over. nice, isn't it? well i still have some school leaving examinations in front of me, but that's it actually.
so, last school-day, it was a nice party in school, everyone else is having class while we are having a nice time on the schoolyard. but let me beginn with the preparations.
